BlueFoot announces it has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase 2 in the amount of 1.25 Million USD focused on automated due diligence using risk-based patent analysis to investigate its potential to fill capability gaps in the Department of the Air Force (DAF). The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through a faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and losing bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering 'The Open Topic' SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded and now on February 3rd, 2023, BlueFoot will start its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America. BlueFoot Inc. has been awarded $1.5M in research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) contracts from the U.S. Air Force under the AFWERX Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II program. AFWERX, a Technology Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the innovation arm of the Department of Air Force, aims to accelerate agile and affordable transitions of dual-use capabilities. BlueFoot provides an AI software platform for analyzing patent, financial, and M&A data in technology domains and industries at the company and country level. Under the Air Force RDT&E contracts, BlueFoot’s AI solution aims to help the acquisition community to rate and compare global technological and patent strength across companies, countries, and industries. Using BlueFoot, the Air Force can gain enhanced situational awareness of commercial entities and near-peer country activities in defense-critical technology domains. Recently, Congress passed the SBIR and STTR Extension Act of 2022 which funds the programs through 2025.
